Pattaya - The Lively City on the East Coast

South Pattaya View point

Pattaya was once a small fishing village that escalated based on visits from various military forces in the late 60's and early 70's, as a result Pattaya has grown into a large Metropolitan City boasting many attractions. Originally attractions were centered around the male military visitors, beers bars, gogo bars and a small bunch of hotels sprouted along the coast line, although the beer bars and Gogo bars are still a large part of the Pattaya scene in more recent times Pattaya has started to attract more families, huge shopping malls like the recetly opened "Terminal 21", Central Mall and old favourties like "Mikes" Shopping Mall and the Royal Garden Plaza appealing to the family vibe. Some great family venues have also recently opened like Cartoon Amazone Network and the more recently opened Ramayana Water Park , great fun for the family and also accessible from Koh Samet.

The Sanctuary of Truth is an immense Teak wooden temple which covers an area of more than two rais. The top point of the building is over 105 meters high. It was constructed to withstand the wind and sunshine on the seashore at Rachvate Cape, just North of Pattaya. Certainly worth an afternoons visit, you can trek around the temple on horse back.
